Bluehole Studio's TERA Online Review
TERA is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game that was released in 2012. Most MMORPG's don't last as long as this one has and are still playable. This game is one of the best MMORPG's I've ever played. There is a large community, it's easy to get into and follow, it doesn't get boring easily and the action is very different than most MMORPG's I have played in the past. While it takes a little bit to get past the tutorial, it is worth it because it gives you items and things that help you later. The story is fun and while most MMORPG players don't really focus on the actual plot of the game, this one has one that actually grabbed me. It's an original game with lots of mechanics that has been up for 5 years and still stands as one of the best MMORPG's that I've played. Of course like all games there are some negative aspects but I don't think they bring the game down in any significant way.
One thing I noticed right off the bat is how easy it is to get into. Most MMORPG's take a while to understand fully but with Tera you get into it and it's pretty simple. While there are mechanics that take a little bit, the main gameplay is easy to understand for most anyone. Another thing I enjoy is the community. It is hard to find a solid community in a lot of MMORPG's but there is a lot of people in the game that are friendly and will help others. The combat system is probably the best part of the game. Tera is fast paced and has a lot of action. You have to be quick and ready for anything while fighting, which sets it apart from a lot of MMORPG's that I have seen. You have a lot of control of you character and there's a wide variety of skills and items you can get to improve you character's combat.
There is many classes like in most MMORPG's but Tera really differs from most. The classes are so different and if you get bored with one character it's easy to start another with a different class and it will change your style of game play and give you much more entertainment. One thing I did notice about Tera though is the lack of non fighting mechanics. There is not a lot of crafting and super entertaining quests. I enjoyed that though, games with lots of crafting and quests can get boring. After a while if you don't have people you're friends with that play the game, or a guild/buddies in game it can get boring. There isn't a lot of grinding in the game but sometimes it gets boring being alone fighting a bunch of stuff. The game is still very fun and I would recommend it to people who like fast paced action packed games.
