Dead by daylight is a horror game designed for an adult audience. It is a cross platform multiplayer game that centre's purely on online play. The game seems simple enough on the surface as you choose to be either a survivor or killer. My first compliment i must give to this game is the wide selection of both survivors and killers available to play from, including many iconic faces such as: Michael Myers, ghost face, Freddy Kruger, Bubba, Nemesis, pyramid head to name a few from the killer section alone. Licenced characters do need to be purchased with real money however there are other character you can get simply by playing the game enough which is one of the games advantages as you do not need money to be good which is a issue in other popular online games. The goal for the killer is to track the survivors down and sacrifice them on a hook (however a special killing move called a mori can be used if you place that as an offering) and the survivors goal is to generators scattered across the map to open a gate and survive they also can escape using a hatch on the map that opens when only one player is left in the trial.
However it is often not as cut and dry as that. To avoid getting bored there is a wide Varity of characters each coming with unique special abilities called "perks" some of these naturally are better than others however the developer team quickly balances any overpowered or useless ones. This really gives the player incentive to earn iridescent shards which can be used in the shrine of secrets to purchase perks that change weekly, you can also receive these perks by levelling up that character to 35 and buying the perk in game using blood points so it is available for all survivors or killers. This allows for endless combinations and different playstyles for survivors however that can be seen more in killers as each one has a different main ability they use to try and dominate the trial. new outfits you can buy with shards in game or real money to really add a custom feel to any character of your choice, there are also charms you can collect via playing the game enough to decorate either the belt of your survivor or your killers hooks. These can be received also by inputting codes that can be found on their social media accounts. One thing I am happy to note is if you enter "pride" in the code section you will receive a pride flag charm that is a permanent code showing that the developers are very much inclusive of any adults that want to enjoy this game. Naturally this game has a large community of players and even e sports tournaments where you can earn some money and play with and against experienced players. The only minor complaint i have is at times the wait for a match can be very long however it is always worth the wait for the fun that will follow. To conclude for someone that enjoys competitive online gaming or is simply a fan of horror movies this game is a absolute must have.
