T-50

The T-50 is in the Light Tanks category and is built by the USSR. It’s really proficient when used as a scout tank, and can also be used in pincer movements where its armor and speed come into their own.

No tank is without its faults, though, and the T-50 is no different – the high speeds you can hit can cause damage to the tracks, which can be annoying for beginners, and the firepower isn’t great either. If you’re after a solid all-rounder, then this is one of the best War Thunder tanks for you.

Sturmgeschutz III Ausf. A (StuG III A)

When it comes to tanks in War Thunder, most people will direct you in one direction and one direction only – that’s towards the German tanks. With good guns across the rankings, and a great variety of cannon-armed cars, the German tanks in War Thunder are some of the best tanks in the game.

The StuG III A is no different. This German tank is best used on the move and in close-quarter battles, owing to angled armor round the turret. However, the armor on the sides of the tank limit its offensive capabilities, and it’s not great for long range attacks. On the whole, German tanks are War Thunder’s best tanks.

T17E2

Don’t let the wheel put you off – this British tank is as good at destroying tanks as any other vehicle in the game! With a pair of .50 caliber machine guns, there’s not much armor out there that can hold out against those bullets. It is quite vulnerable, however, and doesn’t have a lot of armor itself, but its agility and speed should help you get out of any sticky situations. It’s also designed to fight against aircraft, so you have the added bonus of taking out bombers and fighters!

PZ.KPFW. 38(T) AUSF. F

Another German tank in our list of best tanks in War Thunder, the 38(T) is a worthy addition to these tanks. It has great armor penetration, pretty good all-round armor, and is quite speedy too. It has a quick reload as well, which makes it something of a battlefield hero. It’s worth being careful meeting a tank that can cause high damage, and the cramped interior can also mean that one carefully placed shell can kill all the crew. This aside, this selection from the list of German tanks is one of the best tanks in War Thunder.

LVT (A)-1

This particular tank was added in the ‘Flaming Arrows’ update, and it is one of the few amphibious tanks in the game. Now that may not be that useful during firefights, but this American tank comes equipped with nearly impenetrable armor and makes it really tricky to wipe out.

A six-man crew means that all options are considered, making it another one of the best tanks in War Thunder.

Tiger

We couldn’t write an article discussing the best tanks in War Thunder without mentioning this legendary German tank. The Tiger is often the reason players choose Germany as their nation, which goes to show how popular this German tank is. And for good reason too, as it is undoubtedly one of the best tanks in War Thunder. It’s pretty much unequaled as a long-range tank, but it can also dominate in close-quarter gunfights. From a distance, its armor is pretty much invulnerable, but be careful in brawls. For a heavy German tank, the Tiger is pretty speedy, considering it is a heavy tank, so all in all, this is definitely one of the best War Thunder tanks.

Notes

So there’s a quick rundown of the best tanks in War Thunder. Whilst every nation has tanks that could easily rank in the best tanks in the game, on the whole, you should go for German tanks. They’re usually equipped with the best guns, and their armor on each model is pretty consistent. Plus, they’re often great fun to play with! So if you’re looking for the best tanks in War Thunder, be sure to choose German tanks.
