Travian: Legends is a persistent, massively multiplayer, browser-based strategy game set in classical antiquity. Launched back in 2004, it proved to be incredibly popular, with over 5 million players clocking in. 

 

Due to the massive fanbase, there are all sorts of questions that people ask. One of the big ones that people want the answer to is where to find elephants. Players report searching for elephants for days on end, looking for these beautiful beasts high and low. This is no surprise, as elephants are the most powerful animals in the game, so searching for elephants can be a worthy endeavour, especially if you manage to find one. However, they’re also incredibly rare, so searching for elephants can be a real headache – so rare, in fact, that some players actually believe that they don’t exist at all. The Animals of Travian

Travian has lots of things that you, as the player, have to keep on top of. Villages, settlements, buildings, soldiers, resources, special items, alliances… the list almost seems endless! But if you keep careful tabs on all of these elements, you’re sure to thrive in the game. 

 

You’ll also come across all sorts of different animals. Animals are really important in the game, and you can catch them in cages to then use to defend your villages. They’re actually surprisingly effective at warding off potential enemies as well, often stopping them in their tracks before they even make it to your settlement. You’ll be able to find the animals around oases, which are also really useful spots for gathering resources such as lumber and clay – but in your efforts in capturing an oasis, the animals may attack you. So by catching them, you can charge in and claim the oasis for your own. 

 

The game dictates that you need to capture the animals in order of strength. The animals you can find, from the weakest to the strongest, are as follows:

 

• Rats
• Spiders
• Snakes
• Bats
• Wild boars
• Wolves
• Bears
• Crocodiles
• Tigers
• Elephants

 

It’s worth noting that all animals above the bear are capable of killing its contemporary max tier troop in single combat, and when it comes to elephants, they’re almost indestructible to attacks – especially in the early phases of the game. So make sure you’re well prepared if you do manage to come across one of those rare grey beasts!

 

How to capture animals in Travian

It’s actually quite a simple process to capture animals in Travian. When you go to attack an oasis, make sure to use your hero with cages equipped. How many cages your hero has will basically mean how many animals you will catch. If you don’t have any cages, you will end up having a regular fight. 

 

Now you know where to find animals, and how to capture them. So where do you find elephants in Travian?

 

Elephants are one of the trickiest animals to find in the game. People writing in forums all have expressed their frustration at trying to find these noble beasts, with some even saying that they don’t exist at all. Searching for elephants can be a maddening experience, but the payoff is huge. Why are people so desperate to find these elephants, you might ask? Well, just have a look at their stats:

 

Attack: 600

Defense (Infantry) – 440

Defense (Cavalry) – 520

Wood – 350

Clay – 250

Iron – 135

Crop – 100

Pop – 5

 

So pretty useful to have one on your side, especially if you manage to nab one early on in the game! The only trouble is actually finding one… searching for elephants may take up a lot of your time, but it is often worth doing, as they are pretty much indestructible. 

 

Where to find elephants in Travian

Searching for elephants may take hours, days even, and you may have to go to every oasis on the map, and yet still not find one. Players in forums have reported only seeing elephants appear on day 80, so you may have to wait around for them to turn up! People have also said that they tend to appear later on into the server, especially in unoccupied oases – though near the end of a server, lots of the animals are said to turn up anyway!

 

Elephants have been commonly known to be found around very specific oases. These are oases that have 25% wood and 25% wheat, or 50% wheat. This may not narrow it down too much, but with some luck, and a lot of patience, you may catch yourself an elephant! Approach with caution, however – other game players have said that they are almost undefeatable. But get one on your side, and you won’t regret it.
