How 2 Io in Paladins

Hello everyone. In this article I will explain the champion Io from the game Paladins. Io is serenity and strength wrapped in a celestial package. She doesn’t just heal she controls the map. Her primary ability, Moonlight, is a continuous beam that heals allies over time. Unlike many supports, Io has to manage a resource bar instead of cooldowns, which adds a layer of energy conservation and decision-making. You can’t just hold left-click and keep everyone topped off you have to weave in short bursts of healing and retreat when your Moonlight runs out. Where she really shines, though, is with Luna, her pet spirit wolf, who can be placed on the battlefield to zone, capture objectives, or stun enemies with her pounce. That one ability alone can define entire matches. Luna effectively gives Io a second body on the field, which means you can be healing from the back while Luna controls the front. If you’ve ever wanted to babysit your team from orbit while a spectral wolf mauls intruders, Io’s your girl.

What makes Io unique is her ability to solo hold point with Luna while she supports the team elsewhere. This makes Io and Luna a great combo. This opens up wild team comps running double off-tanks, triple DPS, or just diving with full confidence that Luna’s watching your base. The key is placement and timing. Drop Luna in spots where enemies have to engage her to take space. That slows them down, lets your team rotate, and forces tanks into awkward angles. Meanwhile, you can use Spirit Arrow to root enemies for quick peels or to combo with allies. It’s a small projectile, but when landed right, it completely shuts down flanks or escaping targets. In terms of survivability, Io has Guardian Spirit to reposition Luna or drop her somewhere new but Io herself is pretty vulnerable. She’s not as mobile as others, and without good positioning or peel, she can get run down easily. That said, she’s one of the only healers that offers true map control, and that makes her a must-learn.

Her ultimate, Begone, is a massive knockback wave that clears enemies from the area. While it doesn’t deal damage, it’s one of the best zoning ults in the game. The reason for not dealing damage from her ultimate is probably for game balance as a hero who can heal and damage heavily would be very overpowered. You can clear a point, disrupt an enemy push, or even yeet people off cliffs for free kills. Talents shift her dramatically. Goddess’ Blessing is the go-to for raw healing output it buffs healing on the lowest-health ally near your beam. Sacrifice lets Luna heal allies when she dies, which makes her even more disruptive on point. And Life Link makes Luna passively heal nearby allies, making her basically a second Io. On maps like Stone Keep or Warder’s Gate, Io can take total control of high-traffic zones. She’s perfect for players who like area denial, multitasking, and creating chaos without being on the frontlines themselves. That wraps it up for this one. Thank you and have a good day.
