A basic overview of League of Legends in the eyes of a long time player. Is it worth playing?

I've been playing League for quite a bit now. I started playing back in season 2 and I was a total noob, well I am still a bit of a noob, but that doesn't really bother me anymore. The game changed a lot over the years for better or for worse. I tried getting into it competetively but it just didn't work out, because it is pretty hard to become a true "pro" in this game, but once you get the hang of it, there is no stopping you.

League is basically just your average MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) where you choose your champions, play games in various game modes and go for a win, or just try to have fun, both are for the best! There are currently 143 playable champions, and Riot(the company that created the game) just keeps developing more and more champions from cooler and cooler concepts.

There are 3 main game modes: 5v5 Summoner's Rift(The name of the map), 3v3 Twisted treeline and an ARAM mode (All random All mid) where you play random champions. The only mode where you can play ranked games is 5v5 Summoner's Rift though.

The ranked system
While League's ranked system needs some patching up, in my opinion, it is considered really good. Players are divided into divisions based on their skill level. There are 9 divisions which are: Iron, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, Grandmaster, Challenger. Iron and Grandmaster was only recently added to the game. Basically, to climb the ladder you play games, if you win you get points if you lose, you lose, pretty simple, isn't it?
Roles
There are 3 lanes in the game: Top, Mid, Bot(and jungle if you consider it a lane).
For top, you usually go with a brawler type of champion who can take a beating, but sometimes you'll get away with taking an assassin and simply destroy the enemy team.
For the middle, you take mages or assassin's they are basically high damage dealer champions who utilize their skills to kill the enemy as fast as possible.
To botlane goes a Support and a Marksman. Marksman are ranged champions who do a bunch of damage but are really fragile. Supports are supporting them and they are trying to defend the whole team,
There is a place on the map called "jungle" where you are alone, kill jungle creeps and help every other lane. Jungler's try to get the advantage of being higher in numbers and this way they try to get easy kills on the enemy.

I respect League's status in the moba scene, it has been there since 2009 and it's as popular as ever. They are famous for their huge championship's and for trying to make the best out of a game, even if sometimes a decision seem's wrong to us. As I mentioned the game has a variety of champions so you'll pretty much never get bored of it if you are up to trying new things and new ways of playing the game. You can play an astral dragon who can traverse a universe, a mountain, or just a simple jester, whatever you find appealing.
Even though it is a great game it still has its flaws. Sometimes there are some server errors when you'll lag or just won't be able to log in. New champions tend to be overpowered so you'll need to look out for that, balance has always been a huge problem in this game.
Overall I find League to be an enjoyable and a pretty addicting game which is lots of fun when played together with a couple of friends just for fun. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes the concept of moba type games.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed my review.
