Gwent: The Witcher Card Game was released in 2018 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One after an open beta the previous year. It was developed by CD Project Red, the same team behind the hugely successful The Witcher series, based on Andrzej Sapkowski's graphic novels. Gwent is the game that appears throughout the IP and this free to play version stays true to the game’s origins.

Gwent is a digital collectible card game. Matches take place between two opposing players who take it in turn to lay cards. Each game consists of three rounds, and a player must win two out of three rounds to win the game. The game is won by having more points on the board than your opponent. Unit cards have points, and some have points modifiers. There are also special cards that give boosts to you or debuffs to your opponent. Unlike other CCGs, there is no mana pool that you have to tap to draw cards.

There are several decks available in Gwent, each with their own cards and advantages. These decks are representative of the factions found in The Witcher, and you can choose from a variety of leader cards in each. These leaders give special bonuses once per game and must be used strategically to get an advantage.

Gwent is a highly tactical game, and you’ll have to think strategically in order to outwit your opponents. There are both casual and ranked matches, so you can hone your skills before taking on the competitive seasons.
